Namak Paare


Namak Pare नमक पारे is a savoury snack made at the time of festivals in India. Its very popular at the time of Deepawali and Holi too. Out of other little snacks I made this Diwali, I made these too and they are gone by now. I bought a bowl full for my Italian friends and they were gone like hot cakes. Its a very minimal ingredient recipe and it tastes great with a hot chai or even a glass of Wine like my friends did.

Matar Pulav (Rice with Peas)

Who does not love Basmati Rice! Basmati Rice on one hand is a very simple dish to cook but at the same time a delicate one too. Here I am giving you a simple recipe of Rice with sweet Peas and whole spices.

Here is what you will need for 4 people:

Ingredients:

- 300 gms of Basmati Rice
- 50 gms of frozen peas (if available fresh shelled ones)
- 1 tbsp Ghee/Butter/Oil
- 4-5 bay leaves
- 3-4 black big cardamom
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 3-4 cloves
- salt to taste
- 550 ml of water

Hummus


Hummus was the second dish which I cooked with Maria. It comes originally from Egypt but is widely eaten in Turkey, Israel or its wise to say throughout the Middle east.

It is high in protein and dietary fibre because of the Chic peas and Tahini (sesame paste) It is super simple to make and its really healthy and delicious. You can make it from the scratch by soaking the chic peas and cooking them or you could very well use a can (but trust me doing by scratch is worth it) It can be eaten in different ways too like a spread, a vegetable dip, as a condiment for the Falafel roll and it also makes a great picnic and lunch box meal.

Apple, Plum and Fig Chutney



Fall is the time for real good Apples and you can still find some good plums and figs too. Now that since we have a Schreber garden with half an apple tree, I have so many apples which I use to make Pies (Wähe), Chutneys, Crumble.

This recipe needs very few ingredients and very little time too.
